  • Federal prosecutors in Charlotte have filed a forfeiture complaint against a collection agency for allegedly coercing borrowers into paying money that may or may not have been owed. No criminal charges have yet been filed against the agency, Direct Processing LLC.

MECHANIC’S LIEN BREAKDOWN

  • A Minnesota District Court judge has ruled that non-attorney debt collectors can not prepare, sign, or record mechanic’s liens for others as it constitutes the unauthorized practice of law.
