JUDGE GRANTS MTD IN FDCPA CASE OVER CREDITOR ID IN LETTER, VOLUME OF CALLS
- A District Court judge in New Jersey has granted a defendant’s motion to dismiss, ruling that a collector saying it “was willing to accept” an amount to settle a debt is not confusing to a least sophisticated debtor regarding the identity of the creditor to whom the debt was owed, and that the plaintiff did not sufficiently allege why receiving calls on a Saturday and Sunday was harassing, oppressive, or abusive.

FTC SUES, OBTAINS TRO AGAINST ALLEGED DEBT RELIEF SCAM THAT BILKED MILLIONS FROM CONSUMERS
- The Federal Trade Commission has filed a lawsuit and obtained a temporary restraining order shutting down a network of eight companies engaged in a credit card debt relief scheme and the three individuals that own and operate them. The defendants are charged with violating the Telemarketing Sales Rule and unfair and deceptive acts or practices in violation of the FTC Act.

- Inovatec and Clik2pay have announced an integration that will allow Inovatec’s clients to request payment from consumers using Clik2pay’s direct-from-account platform, making it easier for lenders to collect on unpaid debts from consumers, the two companies announced.
