Like many in the industry, Lisa Kemp started at the bottom and has worked her way up the ladder in the credit and collections industry. How did you get your start in the industry?
I started as a receptionist at Ontario Systems in 1995.
What is your career highlight so far?
I have many highlights, but the brightest is probably choosing the job I wanted to do and working for a great company that allowed me to do that.
When or how are you most productive?
I seem to be most productive before I need to leave for the day.
Which industry professional do you admire most?
There are many but Rozanne Andersen is at the top of my list.
What is one thing you do better than everyone else?
I’ve been told I’m like a dog with a bone. When there’s something that needs to be chased down, it’s assigned to me.
What do you like most about this industry?
Hands down, the people and how much they care about the industry, their employees, and yes, consumers too.
What is one thing you wish you could change about this industry?
The misconceptions surrounding the industry.
If you weren’t in this industry, what would you be doing?
Whenever I’ve taken one of those career tests, they always say nurse, but science was not my strong suit. I have always wanted to be an author.
Describe a typical work day.
There is not typical day for me. I am a relationship manager and a product manager. I bounce from partner meetings to research to product-related activities. Today, thanks to my awesome product team, I released a new version of a product.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Zumba.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Most of my best advice came from my mom, and I cycle those through my head all the time. The one that sticks with me the most is the Golden Rule.
What are you currently reading?
I am rereading “The Energy Bus” by Jon Gordon as I mentor a coworker through the book.
What is one fact you’d like everyone in the industry to know about you?
I’m starting my Master’s Degree at Ball State University this fall.
