PAYDAY LENDER HARASSING REPORTER FOR PAYMENT ON NON-EXISTENT LOAN

  • In a textbook case of how not to respond to a major media outlet’s request for comment, a payday lender has started sending emails to a reporter from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution attempting to collect an non-existent debt and has threatened legal action and criminal charges for non-payment. The reporter had originally reached out to the company for comment about allegations it was harassing individuals into making payments. The lender is not responding to phone calls from the reporter, but has now sent two separate emails demanding payment.
