COLLECTOR SENTENCED TO 78 MONTHS IN PRISON FOR SCAMMING INDIVIDUALS
- Alan Ceccarelli, the owner of a Buffalo-area collection agency who threatened and coerced individuals into making payments on debts that were both real and fake, has been sentenced to 78 months in prison, after pleading guilty to committing wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. Ceccarelli, who went by the names Steve Jantrowski, Daniel Hamilton and Scott Richmond, used company names including G&B Check Services, Check & Arbitration Services, Dudley & Associates, National Check Services and Franklin & Ruggiero when collecting.
DISTRICT COURT UPHOLDS SUMMARY JUDGMENT IN FAVOR OF PLAINTIFF IN BOCK V. PRESSLER
- A District Court judge in New Jersey has upheld a summary judgment ruling in favor of the plaintiff in a lawsuit that alleged the defendant did not conduct a “meaningful attorney involvement” before deciding to file a lawsuit against the plaintiff to recover an unpaid debt. The case, Bock v. Pressler & Pressler has been a closely watched case since it was filed nearly six years ago.
