And having spent 15 years at the company, that might be all the proof you need. Read on to learn more about Bryana, why sleep has become so important to her, and why, when it comes to team building, nothing will stop her.
Name: Bryana Watson
Job Title: Sr. Agency Manager
Company: Capio
Length of time at current company: 15 years
Length of time in industry: 24 years
How did you get your start in the industry?
I started with a company called Attention LLC as a collector right out of high school. I am honored to be able to say that I still work with many of those colleagues here at Capio.
What is your career highlight so far?
Being able to participate in four Tough Mudder competitions with other members of our Capio family. These were events that included everyone from our CEO to our collectors. It was the most amazing team-building experience and proved to all of us that we are a lot tougher than we think we are.
When or how are you most productive?
Early mornings.
Which industry professional do you admire most?
Jim Richards, our founder, and chairman. I have had the pleasure of working with him for many years and he is one of the most genuine people I have ever met.
What is one thing you do better than everyone else?
I am not sure that I would say better, but I believe that I have strong interpersonal skills. This is a trait that allows me to make a connection with anyone, as I never meet a stranger.
What do you like most about this industry?
The people! We have some amazing people that work in our industry. I love being able to interact, but most importantly learning from the leaders that have paved a path for us in the industry.

What is one thing you wish you could change about this industry?
The negative perception associated with “the collections industry”.
If you weren’t in this industry, what would you be doing?
Teaching. A lot of my time in the collection industry has been in learning and development. Seeing others succeed and knowing that I was a part of that is very powerful.
Describe a typical work day.
Along with being the point person for all Capio’s agency partners and their daily needs, I also do the vetting, onboarding, managing, and auditing of those agencies.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Sleeping in or staying in bed all day! Though I do not get to do this a lot, especially now with a very active 3-year-old, I do enjoy this when I get the chance.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
“To make tomorrow better than today.” I believe if we are not striving to be better each day then you will end up going backwards.
What are you currently reading?
Currently it would be anything Dr. Seuss, Paw Patrol, or learning books for 3-year-olds.
