Name: Brandy Rousselle
Current Role/Job Title: CEO/President
Company: Capital Recovery Corporation
Length of time at current company: 16 Years
Length of time in industry: 25 Years
How did you get your start in the industry?
Medical Collections/Managed Care Contracting
What is your career highlight so far?
Becoming a CEO to a company that my father-in-law entrusted me with.
When or how are you most productive?
Mornings are the times I’m most productive, but I’m most productive in general when I’m inspired.
Which industry professional do you admire most?
Our VP of Client Relations, Julia Romans. She’s an outstanding mother and such an innovator and go-getter in the industry. Also, not to brown nose😉, but I would say Mike Gibb. I love this platform he provides for our industry and his passion to see our industry thrive. The connections made through these webinars and conferences can bring so many resources of knowledge and insight.
What is one thing you do better than everyone else?
I can’t say I do this better than anyone else, but I do consider myself a very loyal person, sometimes to a fault.
What do you like most about this industry?
That most of us help each other more than compete.
What is one thing you wish you could change about this industry?
The non-stop everchanging regulations. It’s incredibly sad to see agencies that struggle or go under because they can’t keep up with implementation of some of these regulations that are placed on us; especially those that I believe to be senseless to the process of collecting for services and goods for our clients.
If you weren’t in this industry, what would you be doing?
I’d live on multiple country acres running my non-profit with a dog rescue that provided housing for homeless veterans as well, hopefully providing both with life essentials and purpose.
Describe a typical work day
Busy. I make a list every AM of what to accomplish for that day and if I get through 75% of it, I’m satisfied with the day’s outcome.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Reality TV. I know … ugh, but it’s mindless TV that drowns out the real reality we’re dealing with these days😉
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Professionally – “If you come to the table with a problem, you better also come with a proposed solution. Otherwise, you could be the problem.”
Personally – “Give grace to all. God’s given us more than enough to pass along.”
What are you currently reading?
I listen to audio books/podcasts while working. Anything with Jordan Peterson has been on my radar these days.
What is one fact you’d like everyone in the industry to know about you?
My biggest weakness is that I’m an overthinker, but I’m working (without overthinking it😉) on ways to improve that. There is a real thing called “paralysis of analysis.”
Who else would you like to see answer these questions?
I’m sure John Bedard has been done, but I haven’t seen it so I’ll have to go back through the archives. That man is a wealth of information!!!
