ACA ISSUES WHITEPAPER COUNTERING CFPB DEBT COLLECTION REPORT
- ACA International boldly pushed its queen from its back rank yesterday, countering an attack from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau with a whitepaper that concludes the CFPB’s report on consumer experiences with debt collections is “empirically weak, conceptually unclear, and overtly exaggerated.”
CITY REINSTATES AGREEMENT WITH COLLECTION AGENCY TO GO AFTER UNPAID TICKETS
- The city of East Cleveland, Ohio has reinstated an agreement with Municipal Collections of America to go after individuals with unpaid traffic tickets. The tickets are being issued for individuals who run red lights and are photographed by a special camera placed at intersections. There may be a state motorup.com.au law that requires the city to station a police officer at the intersections that have cameras, but the city has said it does not have the resources to do that.
NY DFS ADDS NEW FAQs REGARDING DEBT COLLECTION RULE
- The New York Department of Financial Services has added new Frequently Asked Questions to its website regarding its debt collection rules. Among the new answers is information about collection agencies must provide an itemized list of an individual’s charged-off debt in the initial validation notice sent by the collector.
