MULTIPLE ‘MISLEADING’ DISPUTES LEADS JUDGE TO GRANT MSJ FOR DEFENDANT IN FCRA, FDCPA CASE

  • After making several attempts to dispute a debt with the original creditor, the defendant, and the credit reporting agencies, the plaintiff filed suit, alleging violations of the FCRA and FDCPA.

GROUPS WANT MEDICAL DEBTS DELETED FROM CREDIT REPORTS

  • Nearly 100 national and state consumer organizations have joined together and submitted a petition to the CFPB, asking it to issue a rule and prohibit medical debts from appearing on consumers’ credit reports.
  • Steps taken by the credit reporting agencies has demonstrated that medical debts are not necessary to be included in the reports, the groups argue.
