FCC STARTS RULEMAKING PROCESS TO BLOCK UNWANTED TEXT MESSAGES

  • Given the increasing number of complaints and the greater risks that texts pose compared with robocalls, the Federal Communications Commission has started the rulemaking process to crack down on illegal and fraudulent texts.

MINN. REGULATOR FINES DEBT BUYER FOR OPERATING WITHOUT LICENSE

  • The Minnesota Department of Commerce assessed a $5,000 fine — but stayed $4,000 of it — for a debt buyer that purchased 178 accounts in Minnesota without a collection agency license.
