- A consumer advocacy group in New York City has collected more than 3,000 signatures on a petition that asks Gov. Andrew Cuomo to halt private debt collection in New York state. The group is also soliciting stories from individuals who have been contacted by debt collectors and is sharing those stories with the mainstream media.
CONSUMER GROUPS BACK BANK REQUEST FOR EMERGENCY FCC ROBOCALL RELIEF
- A group of six consumer advocacy organizations have filed a notice with the Federal Communications Commission expressing their support to allow the use of automated telephone dialing systems to make phone calls or send text messages during the coronavirus pandemic so individuals can be made aware of economic relief opportunities from their banks and financial services organizations.

- The plaintiff in a Telephone Consumer Protection Act case is urging the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals not to undo its definition of an automated telephone dialing system, saying that “ship has sailed,” even though other Courts of Appeals have ruled otherwise.
