Conifer Health Solutions has announced its plan to close an office in Tacoma, Wash., and lay off 169 employees.
The revenue cycle management company filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification with the Washington State Employment Security Department on Aug. 14.
“Conifer has made the decision to transition its business office out of the Tacoma market as part of strategic enhancements in how we service our clients,” the company said in a statement. It is “looking to redeploy affected team members wherever possible. Our focus now is on helping those that desire to do so find new roles within Conifer, or to assist them with severance and other support to make a smooth transition to other employment opportunities.”
Earlier this summer, Conifer announced it was closing an office in Detroit this month, and 65 employees were due to be laid off.
Conifer is in the process of being spun off into a separate publicly traded company by its parent, Tenet Healthcare. Tenet has been trying to sell Conifer for more than two years to help service the parent company’s debt load, but was unable to find a suitable buyer.
Interestingly enough, Conifer had two postings for job openings on Indeed.com as recently as Tuesday morning.
