A county in Mississippi is looking for a new collection agency partner, after complaints from staff about the current agency led to a parting of the ways.
Pike County, Mississippi had been using Receivable Solutions Specialists for the past year, but employees within the county said they were having problems with the agency, which led to starting a new search.
One clerk said the company has handled payment reports incorrectly and said the agency does not appear to be able to properly handle accounts where the individual is deceased or has filed for bankruptcy protection. Another clerk in a different department said the company has not filed an affidavits in local court, but an attorney for the county said that it was too early in the relationship for cases to be filed.
RSSI replaced Southwest Mississippi Regional Credit Services last year, which had been collecting on behalf of the county “for years,” according to a published report. The owner of the agency questioned whether county supervisors had done their “due diligence” before accepting RSSI’s bid last year, according to the report. RSSI had been collecting on delinquent fines and fees owed to the county.
The county has announced it will advertise for new bids from agencies.
