Meg Scotty, the president of commercial collection agency Brennan & Clark, is back from watching her son, Casey Larson, compete in ski jumping at the Winter Olympics.
Larson, 19, competed in three events at the Olympics, making the final in two of them — the 90-meter hill and the team competition. Larson’s goal was to finish in the top 40 for the 90-meter hill. He finished 39th.
“It was great to see him smile and be proud of himself,” Scotty said. “The whole premise from his coaches was to get the experience.”
Scotty and her family spent two weeks in Korea watching Larson compete as well as taking in other events. Prior to arriving in Korea, Scotty has been in Switzerland for a week watching Larson and his sister, Cara, compete in a World Junior Ski Jumping event.
Larson and his sister, who is also an accomplished jumper, have set a goal to compete together at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, Scotty said.
Scotty was proud not just of Larson for competing in the Olympics, but with her team at Brennan & Clark for “rising to the occasion” during her absence. “Thank God for my team,” Scotty said.
Even though she is back on American soil and back to the reality of working, Scotty is still trying to process the feelings and emotions of watching her son compete for his country at the Olympics.
“It was surreal,” she said. “It was such a blast. It’s impossible not to filled with such pride.”
