- Debt.com has released its “credit hell” map, showing which states have the most individuals in the “worst shape,” financially. LAW FIRM USING UNCONSTITUTIONAL DEFENSE WINS APPEALS COURT STAY IN CASE FILED BY CFPB
- A law firm that is attempting to fight a civil investigative demand from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has won a battle in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. The law firm, Seila Law, is tangled up in the CFPB’s suit against Morgan Drexel, a debt relief firm. Seila Law is arguing that the CFPB’s leadership structure is unconstitutional, in part because of another Appeals Court ruling, which is being appealed by the CFPB. A stay in the suit has been granted by the Ninth Circuit, which leads one law firm to believe that Seila Law has a decent chance of prevailing in its case.
