ATTORNEY READY TO TRY AND COLLECT AGAIN FROM O.J. SIMPSON
- An attorney who specializes in collections and judgments has been anxiously awaiting the release of O.J. Simpson from prison so he can continue to try and collect on what was a $33 million civil penalty against the former football player after he was sued by the families of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson who were murdered in 1994. Simpson was acquitted of their murder, but was sued separately.
TRADE GROUP MAKES CASE FOR TCPA EXEMPTION
- About 75% of credit unions are confused whether their communications with member-owners comply with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, which is why the trade group representing that group of financial institutions has filed a petition with the Federal Communications Commission for an exemption from the law. The exemption should only apply to credit unions that have an existing business relationship with an individual, according to the petition. IRISH HOSPITALS SPENDING MILLIONS COLLECTING UNPAID DEBTS
- Hospitals in Ireland have spent more than $3.5 million in the past six years with debt collectors trying to recover more than $47 million in unpaid healthcare debts, according to a published report. The amount paid by healthcare facilities to collection agencies has increased by 66% during that six-year span. A breakdown of how much the collection agencies recovered during that period was not published.
