FOUR OUT OF FIVE CONSUMERS DON’T KNOW WHO CFPB IS OR WHAT IT DOES: SURVEY

  • More than 80% of consumers who participated in a survey conducted by CreditCards.com want a federal agency to “protect consumers from unfair, deceptive or abusive practices and take action against companies who break the law.” The problem? The agency already exists. It’s called the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Those 80% of surveyed consumers did not know enough about the CFPB to form an opinion about it.

DCF FOUNDER SHARES INSIGHTS INTO 2017 EVENT

  • The 2017 Debt Collection Forum is scheduled for next month in Nashville, Tenn. The DCF is different from most conferences in that it was started by a collection agency executive — Nick Jarman. Jarman has recently left his job at an agency and is now working as a consultant running RightAway Consulting. He shared his insights into this year’s conference, what separates the DCF from other events, and why an inadvertent stroll past the TV one day led to this year’s keynote speaker.

TCPA COMPLIANCE WITH AUTODIALERS: A PRIMER

A lawyer has laid out the dos and don’ts of contacting individuals using autodialers and how to comply with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. I’m going to assume that most of the readers of the Daily Digest are already doing this (hint hint) and you don’t need this, but on the off chance you’re looking for confirmation, here it is.

WORTH NOTING: The real reason women don’t report sexual harassment … What you have to give employees to make them the most productive they can be … Four ways to protect your company from a cyber attack … McDonald’s is rolling out food delivery … I don’t know what’s scarier. The fact that the Vice President had an AOL email account or that he used it for official business when he was the governor of Indiana … Profits at banks are higher than ever … An NBA player got paid $415,000 for not playing the other night … Tom Hanks bought an espresso machine for the White House press corps.

I don’t care if you judge me, I’m geeked about this
