- The parent company of Kay Jewelers and Zales is watching its stock price plummet, following a report about the company that detailed how some Kay workers swapped out diamonds in engagement rings with cheap imitations. A separate report hinted that the company may be “courting regulatory scrutiny” over its debt collection techniques related to the financing it offers for in-store purchases. The in-house financing operation contributed $225 million in income to the company’s bottom line last year.

A partner with the after-care program says that she was unaware of a parent being told this.
