DEBT COLLECTION LAWS SIGNED INTO EFFECT IN WISCONSIN

  • Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker signed 46 bills into law yesterday, including AB117, which standardizes the amount of documentation needed when collectors file lawsuits against debtors and in which kinds of cases debtors can have their attorney’s fees covered. SB466 is now a law, too, which allows public libraries to outsource collection of overdue fines to a third-party agency.

CAP ONE LANDS CFPB BIG-WIG 

  • Meredith Fuchs, who was the acting deputy director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has reportedly left the agency to become a senior vice president and chief counsel at Capital One.
