ENGLISH ANNOUNCES RESIGNATION FROM BCFP, WILL DROP LAWSUIT
- Leandra English, who was promoted to deputy director of the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection hours before former director Richard Cordray resigned last November and who sued President Trump to try and have Mick Mulvaney replaced as acting director of the agency, has announced she plans to resign from the bureau and will drop her lawsuit.
APPEALS COURT DENIES REQUEST TO OVERTURN CLASS CERTIFICATION IN FDCPA CASE
- The Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit has denied a request from a mortgage servicer to appeal class-action certifications in two cases at the District Court level, accusing the servicer of violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act by contacting the plaintiffs about foreclosure proceedings while their loans were in a trial modification program from the federal government.

- A plaintiff’s lawyer has come out and defended judges in New Jersey, saying they are not biased against debt collectors, after a collection attorney published a scathing attack last week.
