- A trade group has filed an amicus brief in support of an online lender that is being sued by the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection for collecting on loans that were allegedly illegal. The Native American Financial Services Association filed the amicus brief in support of Think Finance’s defense that the leadership structure of the BCFP is unconstitutional and that the agency has no business regulating Native American tribes and tribal leaders.
FTC ANNOUNCES HEARINGS AIMED AT DISCUSSING CONSUMER PROTECTION PRIORITIES
- The Federal Trade Commission has announced it will hold a series of public meetings about its consumer protection prerogatives and priorities. Up to 20 public hearings will be conducted between this September and January 2019, the agency announced. The title for the series is “Competition and Consumer Protection in the 21st Century.”
