FTC EXTENDS COMMENT PERIOD FOR NON-COMPETE PROPOSAL

  • The Federal Trade Commission announced yesterday that it is extending the comment period related to proposed rule on non-compete clauses, likely because of the expected number of comments that are to be filed.

REPORT RECOMMENDS 20% REDUCTION IN ATTORNEY’S FEES IN FDCPA CASE

  • A Magistrate Court judge in New York has recommended a 20% drop in the attorney’s fees and costs to be paid by the defendant in a Fair Debt Collection Practices Act case that settled via arbitration proceedings, determining that the hourly fee sought by the plaintiff’s attorneys was more than what they had received in “very recent” cases.

BILL INTRODUCED IN HOUSE TO REQUIRE COST-BENEFIT ANALYSIS AT CFPB

  • Maybe this is the time where it finally makes it. For the second time, Rep. Alex Mooney [R-W.V.] has introduced a bill that require the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to conduct a cost-benefit analysis prior to issuing any regulation as a means of trying to limit the CFPB’s “regulatory overreach,” the Congressman said.
