Name: Brandon Gilbert
Current Role/Job Title: Manager, Business Intelligence
Company: Frost-Arnett Company
Length of time at current company: 11 years
Length of time in industry: 11 years
How did you get your start in the industry?
Like many before me, I started out as a phone collector.
What is your career highlight so far?
Winning the J. W. “Rusty” Duke Outstanding Achievement Award for our company’s top employee.
When or how are you most productive?
I have to be productive all the time. I prefer early morning productivity, however, as it’s usually more proactive than reactive.
Which industry professional do you admire most?
I admire the connections and industry knowledge of Mike Frost, and I admire the work done by our phone reps who have an incredibly difficult job.
What is one thing you do better than everyone else?
I have been told I am very patient in explaining and talking through strategies.
What do you like most about this industry?
I’m a data guy, so I enjoy being able to test theories and strategies to see what works or doesn’t work and this industry is very rich in data to be able to go down those rabbit holes.

What is one thing you wish you could change about this industry?
The outside perception of what we do. This misunderstanding leads to consumers who don’t trust us to help them resolve accounts, and regulators who hamstring our ability to help people.
If you weren’t in this industry, what would you be doing?
I’d probably pursue something in sports analytics.
Describe a typical work day.
Every day is a new adventure. Myself and my team support nearly every aspect of the company, so there’s various fire drills and new opportunities always coming up. That’s the fun of the job, though.
What is your guilty pleasure?
I really enjoy British Television shows. In the rare moments I do get a chance to watch something on TV, that’s what I prefer.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
There are two quotes that I hold dear. The first is from Albert Einstein: “You never fail until you stop trying.” The other is from Actor/Comedian/Banjo Player Steve Martin: “Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you do criticize him, you’ll be a mile away and have his shoes.”
What are you currently reading?
“The Leadership Secrets of Nick Saban” by John Talty. As much success as he has had in his chosen profession of coaching football, I almost feel his talent as a leader has been wasted there.
What is one fact you’d like everyone in the industry to know about you?
I’m currently working on setting up a YouTube channel/podcast called “Final Hesitation,” which is a horror movie first-watch reaction podcast.
Who else would you like to see answer these questions?
Allison Latsch, Director of Specialized Services at Collections Center Inc, a Frost-Arnett Company.
