There is a level of self-assuredness that is needed to be completely honest when answering these questions, and it’s clear from the information below that Jordan McWilliams has it. That same level of self-assuredness is probably also what allows him to not think twice about openly swearing in an answer. Perhaps it is his love of the objective world of data that gives Jordan his confidence and his refreshing take on the accounts receivable management industry. One thing is for certain: the man likes data. And coffee. Probably in that order. Read on to learn more about Jordan, why you should just not talk to him if you put anything in your coffee, and how he manages his very busy days.
Name: Jordan McWilliams
Current Role/Job Title: Project Manager – Digital Operations and Strategy
Company: Contract Callers Inc
Length of time at current company: 1 year, 6 months
Length of time in industry: 6 years, 3 months
How did you get your start in the industry?
Started off as an agent first working a Chase Bank Quints portfolio, and then working on a tax portfolio for South Carolina.
What is your career highlight so far?
Creating multiple scoring/segmentation models for predicting propensity-to-pay. One of which was on a utility client that ended up separating with their other agency and placing all inventory with us due to the level of performance we achieved. Recently, another model I build is constantly evaluating the inventory to adjust the segmentation for optimal results.
When or how are you most productive?
Whenever I can be sorting through data, with a podcast playing in the background.
Which industry professional do you admire most?
Scott Curtis. He was the Vice President over the office that I was in while with GC Services. Always made time to connect with people, regardless of their role within the company, and could always come up with the absolute best metaphors to help explain a situation.
What is one thing you do better than everyone else?
Being able to remove myself from the situation, and take a 30,000ft, objective, view of the situation to make the best decision.
What do you like most about this industry?
The nearly-endless amounts of data that can be analyzed, and then the fact that you can take that analysis and directly tie it into a strategy that affects the overall growth of the entire company.

What is one thing you wish you could change about this industry?
I don’t think I can choose ONE thing, as the items I’ll mention are all equally important: old habits, old mindsets, old cultures.
If you weren’t in this industry, what would you be doing?
Likely working towards opening a brewery and spending my days brewing.
Describe a typical work day.
Wake up at 5:30am to let the dog go outside, throw on a hoodie, make a breakfast smoothie, and then hop online. Review the previous day digital engagement rates, and look for trends in the payments made through the payment portal. Monitor the automated creation of the daily HCI campaigns, put together the day’s digital outreach, and make sure all outreach methods are ready to go by 7:00am. I regularly skip lunch, so the rest of my day, which is fueled by 4 to 6 cups of Black Rifle Coffee Company coffee, is spent analyzing scoring model success trends, looking through PowerBI reporting dashboards to look for actionable items, and finding ways to fine tune our digital footprint. Between doing those things and dealing with system-related fires that pop up, it keeps me busy until it’s time to go wrap things up, make sure that Ops is prepped for the rest of the day regarding outreach, and then head to pick up my two kids from school. Sometime between getting home, dinner with the family, and watching “Masked Singer” on Wednesdays, finding time for coursework towards my Psychology major.
What is your guilty pleasure?
A properly made, French petit au chocolat (chocolate croissant), with a big cup of dark roast.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Stepping in shit is inevitable, so let’s either see it as good luck, or figure out how to do it less often.
What are you currently reading?
“Chapterhouse: Dune”, the 6th and final book of the series. Up next is “Stories We Tell Ourselves” by Richard Holloway.
What is one fact you’d like everyone in the industry to know about you?
If you don’t drink your coffee black, then I’m probably subconsciously judging you.
Who else would you like to see answer these questions?
I really don’t know. Someone interesting, and who thinks like an industry outsider.
