JUDGE GRANTS MOTION FOR DEFENDANT IN FCRA CASE OVER REMOVAL OF DISPUTE NOTIFICATION
- A District Court judge in Tennessee has granted a defendant’s motion for judgment on the pleadings that it did not violate the Fair Credit Reporting Act by failing to remove a dispute notification when furnishing information about an individual’s credit report to a credit reporting agency, because the individual only submitted the removal request to the CRA and not to the defendant itself.
SENATE COMMITTEE TO HOLD HEARING ON IMPACT OF MEDICAL DEBT
- The Senate Banking Committee has scheduled a hearing for next Tuesday that will hear testimony related to the “impact of the growing burden of medical debt,” likely a response to a number of reports and activities detailing the size and scope of medical debt being carried by individuals in the United States.

- The pace of income tax returns that have been filed with the Internal Revenue Service is slowing down, compared with last year, but the size of the average income tax refund remains significantly higher, further confounding members of the accounts receivable management industry, who had expected tax refunds for 2021 to be lower than usual, because of pandemic-related stimulus efforts by the federal government, which were advances on items normally addressed when filing tax returns.
