CALIF. APPEALS COURT UPHOLDS SUBPOENA OF DEBT COLLECTOR
- A state Appeals Court in California has upheld a ruling from a lower court compelling a debt collector to comply with a subpoena it received from four District Attorney’s offices in the state investigating the collector’s compliance with the Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

- More than 80% of consumers will abandon buying something online if the payment experience is poor, according to the results of a survey released recently by Plaid, a payments platform company. For companies in the accounts receivable management industry, this should underscore the importance of making it easy for consumers to make payments via a payment portal, because the number of consumers who abandon the process for a collection payment is likely much higher than those who walk away from a retail payment.

- The three major credit reporting agencies announced Friday that they are making changes to how medical debts are reported, leading to the removal of nearly 70% of medical debt tradelines from consumers’ credit reports.
