Brian Striker gets it that success takes more than working hard and more than being smart. It takes both. One without the other is just a waste. And with a new clock that starts every 30 days, being successful in this industry means constantly having to prove yourself. Read on to learn more about Brian, why you should never talk to him about “The Drive,” and why he will never ask you something he already knows.
Name: Brian Striker
Current Role/Job Title: VP of Third Party Revenue Cycle
Company: Sherloq Solutions
Length of time at current company: 8+ years
Length of time in industry: 25+ years
How did you get your start in the industry?
I was working for a construction company that folded. I needed something quick and applied for a collector position until something better came along. I quickly realized that I loved collections.
What is your career highlight so far?
I consider each person that I’ve been able to mentor and help grow within the company all highlights. I love to see people succeed.
When or how are you most productive?
I am most productive under pressure and when I have committed team members around me.
Which industry professional do you admire most?
I admire all operational leaders who wear multiple hats and do whatever it takes to make their company better, especially ones who motivate. Harry Strausser taught an ACA class that I attended 23 years ago that still sticks with me today.
What is one thing you do better than everyone else?
Nothing in particular. I always focus on what role I can play in making our company better each day with marginal gains.
What do you like most about this industry?
The ever-changing landscape with a chance at redemption every 30 days. You are always judged by your previous month but always get a do over.

What is one thing you wish you could change about this industry?
The collector is the most important part of our industry and their job has gotten more difficult over the past 25 years. The endgame is account resolution but they have so many obstacles just to get there.
If you weren’t in this industry, what would you be doing?
I’d probably have a landscape company so that I could be outside.
Describe a typical work day.
When I’m not traveling, I’m working at 6:30am and focus on communication as much as possible. My kids are all gone so I don’t have to juggle sports anymore.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Spending a lifetime rooting for the Cleveland Browns.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Never ask an employee a question that you already know the answer. That works well in all areas of your life. If someone isn’t honest and you already knew the answer, you are forced to address the lie when you could have avoided it altogether.
What are you currently reading?
“Winning” by Jack Welch and always the Bible.
What is one fact you’d like everyone in the industry to know about you?
I’ve always tried to live by the Woody Hayes quote, “I’ve had smarter people around me all my life, but I haven’t run into one yet that can outwork me. And if they can’t outwork you, then smarts aren’t going to do them much good.”
Who else would you like to see answer these questions?
Jim Marshall at Aargon and Shelda Griffen at Sherloq.
