Even though he has only been in the accounts receivable management industry for a relatively short time, Christopher McCaleb has learned the important lesson about the role that compliance can play in the growth of a successful company. What is your career highlight so far?
Witnessing our company receive more business. Compliance helps keep us in good standing legally and therefore more attractive when seeking new business.
When or how are you most productive?
In the morning – the earlier the better.
Which industry professional do you admire most?
Everyone in who understands we can collect debt while being professional, respectful, and courteous. Especially in leadership because they drive the tone for those who follow them.
What is one thing you do better than everyone else?
Umpire baseball, rattling off well known or obscure movie lines, and naming tunes with an extensive history of background from album liner notes. (Oh, shoot, that’s 3)
What do you like most about this industry?
We provide opportunities for people to pay their debts and restore their names.
What is one thing you wish you could change about this industry?
I would provide a pathway so that after a prescribed amount of payments and goals are met by a debtor they would receive a healthy reduction of interest and collection cost. This would provide incentive, and reduce the sense of debtors feeling overwhelmed.
Describe a typical work day.
I investigate complaints from various sources. Audit calls for clients, respond to disputes, and track trends for reporting. Whatever is needed for my team to be successful.
If you weren’t in this industry, what would you be doing?
Full-time writer, podcast host, and world traveler similar to what Anthony Bourdain did while he was living.
