LAS VEGAS — This year’s annual ACA International Convention, which kicks off today here in Las Vegas might be one of the most highly anticipated events in the history of the association. This marks ACA’s first in-person event since Spring Forum 2020, and there are no shortage of important topics that will be addressed in the coming days within the walls of Caesars Palace.
The industry is eagerly awaiting a decision from the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals about whether it will grant a petition to hold an en banc rehearing of the Hunstein case. The industry is also eagerly awaiting a decision from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau about when Regulation F will go into effect. The industry is also waiting to see if Rohit Chopra is confirmed to be the next director of the CFPB and what impact that could have on Regulation F and enforcement activity within the accounts receivable management industry. On top of all that, the industry is also having troubles finding qualified job candidates and is now facing more restrictions being put into place to try and tame the COVID-19 pandemic. Did I miss anything? 🙂
Hundreds of industry professionals from across the country have made the pilgrimage here to learn how to address the situations above, to see the latest and greatest being offered by vendors who are exhibiting at the convention, and to network and interact with one another. So much information is shared during those impromptu meetings in hallways and at cocktail tables. New relationships are made; old relationships are renewed. And the industry comes together to help one another.
I’ll be reporting what I see and hear today, tomorrow, and Friday. And, a panel of attendees who are here this week will participate in a webinar next Monday to recap the convention. If you’re here in Vegas, I hope to get the chance to catch up with you in person. If you’re not, stay tuned to read all about what happens.
