Name: Shantel Petrosyan
Job Title: Recovery Specialist Supervisor
Company: PFC USA
Length of Time at Current Position: Six years
Length of Time in Industry: Six years
How did you get your start in the industry?
I started as a part time collector while going to school at the University of Northern Colorado. I had no idea at the time what the collection industry had to offer, or what it had in store for me!
What is your career highlight so far?
Being chosen as one of our collection floor supervisors. The opportunity to lead and share my experience with others to help them succeed is the most rewarding part of the job.
When or how are you most productive?
I have always been an early bird so I am definitely the most productive at the beginning of each work day. Then at the end of every day, I list what needs to be done tomorrow in order stay organized.
Which industry professional do you admire most?
Mary Shores! Her communication skills and ability to connect with others is inspiring.
What is one thing you do better than everyone else?
I would say that my ability to stay positive and find the silver lining in tough situations is something I am very proud of! I have always been drawn and admired those around me who are positive and proud of what they do, so I have worked very hard to be that person for my team.

What do you like most about this industry?
How much everyone in our industry truly cares! Not only do we have both our consumers and clients best interest at heart, but we take pride in how much we care about our employees wellbeing. Some days can be tougher than others but we are all in it together!
What is one thing you wish you could change about this industry?
How it is perceived, hands down. There is a negative stigma associated with the collection industry but we exist to help our consumers resolve their accounts with compassion and professionalism. If more people understood this, I can only imagine how laws and regulations would change.
If you weren’t in this industry, what would you be doing?
I achieved my Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, so probably in an office handling relations, payroll, benefits etc.
Describe a typical work day.
I can’t properly start a day without my coffee, whether it is using my Nespresso at home or stopping at Starbucks on my way to the office. Then I complete all of my daily tasks, work on projects and attend any meetings or trainings I have scheduled throughout the day. But my main priority is always my team and being available for any questions they may have.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Vanilla Ice Cream with Marshmallows. Yum!
