How did you get your start in the industry?
I was asked to defend a debt collection agency by an insurance carrier.
What is your career highlight so far?
Being named ACA Judicial Advocate for 2019 because it seemed to recognize years of hard work I have done on behalf of my clients.
When or how are you most productive?
In the morning and anytime I can get an extended time with no phones.
Which industry professional do you admire most?
There are many because so many do different jobs. Steve Zahn for managing a team and understanding litigation in a subtle way; John Bedard for teaching; Tomio Narita for sheer intelligence; Matt Laws for playing the long game, and Mike Frost for being all around genius at this.
What is one thing you do better than everyone else?
Picking a jury and cross examination. I learned how as a prosecutor and am good at it.
What do you like most about this industry?
The people.
What is one thing you wish you could change about this industry?
The unfair perception people outside the industry have about it.

If you weren’t in this industry, what would you be doing?
Still trying cases and doing litigation for other businesses.
Describe a typical work day.
Emails, phone calls, and meetings with clients about lawsuits, etc.. and employment issues; reviewing and drafting motions, pleadings, etc. in cases; meetings with my associates, re: ways to litigate and generally irritating plaintiff attorneys via email or phone calls
What is your guilty pleasure?
I am a Texan so hanging out with my cows on my small ranch.

From my grandfather: pay more attention to what people actually know than the piece of paper hanging on their wall.
