- A District Court judge in North Carolina has granted a defendant’s motion to dismiss after it was sued for allegedly violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act by not quoting the statutory dispute notice language in a collection letter.
ACA INTERNATIONAL SUBMITS 154-PAGE COMMENT ABOUT PROPOSED RULE
- In what is likely the most comprehensive comment that will be submitted, ACA International laid out broad support for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s proposed debt collection rule, but identified several changes that will “impose significant burdens” without “any quantitative evidence of consumer harm in those areas.”
CFPB TO KEEP COMPLAINT DATABASE OPEN, BUT WITH SOME CHANGES
- The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau announced yesterday that it will continue to publish its database of consumer complaints, but announced that it will make some changes to how the data is presented, which appeared to keep both consumer advocates and participants in the credit and collection industry happy.
