JUDGE MAKES RULING ON PRELIMINARY OBJECTIONS IN STRAUSSER CASE AGAINST COMPANY THAT BOUGHT OUT HIS FIRM
- The judge in a lawsuit filed by Harry Strausser against the company which purchased Strausser’s collection agency a year ago, has overruled six of the preliminary objections filed by the defendants, dismissed five of the counts from the original complaint, ruled four of the counts are moot, and denied a motion from the defendants to strike punitive damages. The ruling allows the case to move forward with most of the plaintiff’s core arguments in tact and allows the plaintiffs to pursue the full range of damages sought in the initial complaint.
BECK OUT AS CEO OF DCI
- Gordon Beck, the chief executive of Diversified Consultants, Inc., is no longer with the collection agency. Beck had spent nearly 20 years at the firm, rising through the ranks to become CEO. He was promoted to chief executive of the company last July.
ACA ELECTS NEW BOARD MEMBERS, ANNOUNCES NEW LEADERS
- ACA International has made a number of announcements at its conference this week related to leadership or the organization. The association announced the election of three new board members — Daniel Desatnick, Anita Manghisi and David Williams. As well, current board members Rick Perr and Tina Hanson were re-elected to a new term. The association also selected Roger Weiss to be president-elect and G. Scott Purcell to be treasurer.
