JUDGE DENIES TRO AGAINST MULVANEY RUNNING CFPB AS SENATOR RAISES QUESTIONS
- Leandra English’s attempts to prove she is the rightful interim director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau took a hit yesterday when a federal judge declined to grant a temporary restraining order that would have blocked Mick Mulvaney from running the agency until a permanent director is named and confirmed. Until the motion for a temporary restraining order is appealed or until the lawsuit is resolved, there will continue to be dueling directors of the CFPB. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, meanwhile, has sent the White House a letter raising a number of ethical and logistical questions about Mulvaney’s appointment as interim director of the CFPB.

- An investigation by the Attorney General of New York has uncovered that a hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y., billed patients or their health insurance providers in 85 of 86 instances where a forensic rape exam was conducted.
