NEW YORK AG OPENS INVESTIGATION INTO STUDENT LOAN COLLECTION PRACTICES
- The attorney general of New York has opened an inquiry into the collection practices of the National Collegiate Student Loan Trusts. The initial inquiry calls for a copy of every lawsuit that the company has filed against a student in New York over unpaid student loans. Earlier in the week, it was reported that the company may not have the proper paperwork to document its ownership of $5 billion of the $12 billion in student loans that it oversees.
