SENATORS INTRODUCE BILL TO REMOVE ROBOCALL EXEMPTION
- Two Senators, one Republican and one Democrat, introduced legislation yesterday that would remove the exemption allowing autodialer calls to individuals with debts guaranteed by the federal government, such as student loans. The bill, called the Help Americans Never Get Unwanted Phone Calls (HANGUP) Act, would remove the exemption that was put into place last year as part of the federal government’s budget.
PRIVACYSTAR RELEASES UPDATE TO ANDROID SOFTWARE
- The makers of PrivacyStar, an app that allows individuals to not only block robocalls, but also report them to the Federal Trade Commission, has announced an update on its Android version of the software. The update now provides users with “Scam Blocking, Real-Time Nuisance Call Identification, Caller ID and Unlimited Reverse Number Lookups.”
TRUMP YANKS DEM’S NOMINATION TO FCC COMMISSIONER POST
- President Donald Trump has pulled the nomination of Jessica Rosenworcel to be a commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission. Rosenworcel, a Democrat, stepped down earlier this year, but was re-nominated by President Barack Obama before he left office.
