LAWMAKER WANTS TO REDUCE CFPB PAY SCALE BY UP TO 25%
- Employees at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau could see their pay cut by as much as 25% if a bill proposed by Rep. Jeb Hensarling [R-Texas], the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, becomes law. As part of Rep. Hensarling’s Financial CHOICE Act, employees at the CFPB would be shifted from the pay scale used at the Federal Reserve to the pay scale used by most other federal agencies. While Rep. Hensarling’s bill will die when the current Congressional term ends, he has said he plans to propose a similar measure when Congress reconvenes next year.
