Store Outs Delinquent Customer With Roadside Sign

A Canadian flooring retailer has taken the unusual step of publicly shaming a customer who owes $1,153.19 by posting the individual’s name and the amount owed on a large sign outside the store.

A picture of the sign was posted on Reddit earlier today. The retail outlet appears to be River Park Flooring, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The sign reads:

There were a number of comments on the post, many of them arguing as to the legality, or illegality, of publicly shaming an individual with an unpaid debt. The rules are slightly different in Canada, with many provinces enacting their own consumer protection legislation.
