BARRON & NEWBURGER HIRES ANOTHER ATTORNEY AND OPENS ANOTHER NEW OFFICE

  • For the second time in less than a week, the law firm of Barron & Newburger has announced the hiring of a new partner and the opening of a new office. The lawyer, Lauren Burnette, will open a Jacksonville, Fla., office for the firm. Most recently, Burnette was with the firm of Marshall Dennehy Warner Colman & Goggin. Last week, Barron & Newburger announced that Mitch Williamson had left Pressler & Pressler and would be opening a New Jersey office for the firm.

MILLENNIALS MOST SUSCEPTIBLE TO ONLINE, PHONE FRAUD SCAMS

  • Pop quiz: Who are the most vulnerable people to online and phone scams? It’s the elderly, right? Wrong. Studies have revealed that millennials are most likely to be a victim of online or phone fraud. According to a new study, 17% of women and 38% of men between the ages of 18-34 admitted to being victims of of some kind of phone scam. Overall, 11% of Americans have lost money in some kind of phone fraud in the past 12 months.

OHIO CITY CONSIDERS FOLDING MUNICIPAL COURT OVER UNPAID FINES

  • A city in Ohio is considering folding its municipal court and merging with another court because the size of the unpaid fines and court fees are leaving the court in the red. The South Euclid Municipal Court has more than $750,000 in unpaid fines and fees and is considering hiring a collection agency to help recover that amount.
