- Casey Larson, the son of Meg Scotty, the president of Brennan & Clark, a commercial collection agency based in Villa Park, Ill., will represent the United States in ski jumping at the upcoming Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Larson, 19, will be competing in his first Olympic Games. He secured his spot earlier this month.

- From Barron & Newburger: Two states have jointly entered into a consent agreement with a collection agency related to how it handled unclaimed funds. Separately, the Minnesota Department of Commerce fined five separate collection agencies for failing to provide the “mini-Miranda” warning as required under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
CONIFER CLOSING DEBT COLLECTION OPERATION AT N.C. HOSPITAL
- Conifer Health Solutions, a unit of Tenet Healthcare, will lay off more than 80 workers as it plans to stop its debt collection operation at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, N.C., according to a published report.
