FREQUENT LAWSUIT FILER GOES AFTER LEXINGTON LAW GROUP
- One of the ARM industry’s most notorious filers of lawsuits against collection agencies has set his sights on his next target … one of the ARM industry’s most notorious disputers of debts. In a case filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Utah. Craig Cunningham has filed suit against Lexington Law Group, alleging violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Cunningham alleges that Lexington Law Group made phone calls and sent him a text message soliciting the firm’s credit repair services. Cunningham has filed a class-action lawsuit against Lexington.
NEW LEGISLATION IN MAINE ADDS ADDITIONAL STEPS FOR DEBT BUYERS
- The Maine State legislature has enacted new legislation that enhances consumer protections but does so in a way that the measures can be “operationalized by the receivables management industry,” said the Receivables Management Association — formerly known as DBA International. The law, which was signed into effect by Governor Paul LePage last Friday, creates a number of requirements for debt buyers wishing to collect on the debts they purchase.
